REVIEWR grades every photo against a published rubric — six weighted categories scored 1.0–10.0 with fixed anchor descriptors and genre-aware weighting — then explains the visible choices behind the scores and compares linked revisions.
Choose a genre and critique level, then optionally explain your intent. A quiet portrait and a dramatic sports photograph should not be judged as if they had the same goal.
Read the summary and category reasoning, then pick an action that addresses a visible issue. A lower score is not automatically the most useful thing to work on first.
Edit this file where the feedback supports it, or plan a reshoot for decisions that an edit cannot fix. The guides below include short practice exercises.
Upload an improved version through the original critique. Add an optional note about your changes, use the before/after comparison, and check whether the intended issue was addressed.
A revision can show that a particular change worked. It cannot by itself prove a lasting improvement in skill. Keep the genre and critique level consistent when comparing; AI scores and wording can vary.
The percentages below are the default weights. REVIEWR adjusts weighting for specific genres; a macro photograph places more emphasis on technical precision than a street photograph. Each guide explains what the category looks for and gives you a practical exercise.
Composition is about where attention goes and how the elements work together. Its default weight is 20%; genre-specific weights can differ. Centering, negative space and tight crops can all work when they serve the photograph.
Light is assessed by what it does for this photograph, not by whether it is soft or dramatic. The default weight is 20%; portraits, for example, place more weight on lighting.
Creativity considers the idea and its execution together. Its default weight is 20%. A familiar subject is not automatically a weak photograph, and an unusual effect is not automatically a strong idea.
Color and tone shape separation, emphasis and atmosphere. The default weight is 15%. Black-and-white, muted palettes, deep blacks and expressive color are assessed in the context of the photograph.
A photograph can communicate through a moment, a relationship or a quiet atmosphere. The default weight is 15%; story carries more weight in genres such as documentary, street and weddings.
Technical quality has a default weight of 10%, with higher weights in genres such as macro, astrophotography and sports. Focus, grain and motion are judged by their effect on the image rather than by a demand for perfect pixels everywhere.
Start with the opening summary, What’s working and Room to grow. Each category connects a visible choice to its effect on the image. Use the priority actions to decide what deserves attention first; optional creative directions are not automatically faults.
Explore a full critiqueUpload an improved version from its original critique. Add an optional note about what you changed, then compare the earlier image and feedback with the revision using the before/after view and category changes.
Choose one change to testRead the challenge brief in Quest Hub before shooting. Submissions are evaluated against that brief as well as the photography rubric. Quests always use Intermediate, so choosing an easier critique level cannot improve a challenge score. Entry does not use a critique credit.
