Free Daily & Weekly Photo Challenges: How REVIEWR Quests Work
Find a reason to pick up your camera. REVIEWR's daily and weekly photography quests are free to enter, with bonus critiques for the winners.
You want to take more photographs, but sometimes the hardest part is deciding what to shoot. A small creative brief can help: one idea to explore, one photograph to make, and a reason to look at familiar surroundings differently.
That is what REVIEWR's daily and weekly photography quests are for. Every quest is free to enter with a REVIEWR account. You do not need a paid membership, and a valid quest submission does not use your daily, purchased, or earned critique credits.
There is a reward for winning, too: a daily quest winner receives 1 bonus critique, and a weekly quest winner receives 3.

What are daily and weekly photography quests?
A quest is a photography challenge with a specific brief. Instead of uploading any image and asking how it looks, you work toward a creative goal and receive feedback in that context.
Daily quests offer a short practice window. They are a useful way to give an ordinary day a photographic focus: noticing a shape, working with light, or finding a clearer composition.
Weekly quests give you more time to explore an idea. You can think through your approach, plan a shoot, and choose the photograph that best answers the brief.
The Quest Hub shows the current challenges and their deadlines. Read the brief before entering: a photograph should respond to the actual challenge, rather than simply be a strong image on an unrelated subject.
Free entry, even when your critique balance is empty
Quest entries have their own free path. Submitting a photograph through an active quest does not spend one of your regular critiques.
That means you can still join a quest after using your normal daily allowance. You do not need to buy a critique pack or upgrade your account to participate.
Use the submission action inside the quest. A separate, ordinary photo critique is a different workflow and follows your usual allowance.
Free entry does not mean an automatic prize. Completing a valid challenge earns XP; the bonus critiques are awarded to the winner.
What do quest winners receive?
The critique rewards depend on the type of competition:
- Daily quest winner: 1 bonus critique.
- Weekly quest winner: 3 bonus critiques.
These are additional critiques credited to the winner's account. They are separate from the free critique used to enter the quest.
The winner is determined after the competition closes, from eligible completed entries. Rankings are based on the photograph's critique score, rather than the number of likes it receives. Quest critiques use the Intermediate standard, regardless of the critique level selected in your personal settings.
A temporary first-place position is not a confirmed win. Other photographers can enter before the deadline, so check the final result once the competition has finished.
How to join a free photography challenge
- Sign in to your free REVIEWR account and open the Quest Hub.
- Choose an active daily or weekly quest.
- Read its brief, requirements, and deadline.
- Make or select a photograph that answers the brief, then submit it through the quest.
- Read the feedback, check your result, and take one useful lesson into your next photograph.
Quest photographs are public competition entries. Choose an image you are comfortable sharing with the community.
Make the challenge useful, whether you win or not
A quest gives you a constraint to work with. Try treating that constraint as a small experiment.
For example, if a brief asks you to simplify a photograph, make several versions of the same scene. Change your position, remove distractions at the edges, and compare what happens to the subject. Choose the version that expresses your idea most clearly.
After receiving your critique, read the reasoning behind the scores. Which decision helped the photograph? What would you change next time? A concrete observation about framing or light is something you can use again.
Our guides to composition and lighting can help you turn that feedback into something to practise. You can also browse photographs shared by the community for inspiration.
Frequently asked questions
Are REVIEWR's daily and weekly quests really free?
Yes. All REVIEWR members can enter active quests for free, including members on the free account. Valid quest submissions do not consume regular critique credits.
Do I need a paid membership or an available critique credit?
No. A free account is enough, and you can enter a valid active quest even when your regular critique balance is empty.
Does everyone who enters receive bonus critiques?
No. Bonus critiques are winner rewards: 1 for a daily win and 3 for a weekly win. Completing a valid quest earns XP, but entry alone does not guarantee a win or bonus critiques.
Can beginners take part?
Yes. You do not need to be a professional photographer or have a paid account. Read the brief, give it a thoughtful attempt, and use the feedback to decide what to practise next. Quest entries are assessed at the Intermediate level.
