REVIEWR uses Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro for primary photo critiques and re-critiques, with Gemini 3.1 Flash for follow-up questions and portfolio analysis.

Is there a paid tier?

Not at the moment. REVIEWR is free for everyone while the team monitors usage. Optional support or membership tiers may be introduced later, but the core service will remain free.

Are my photographs used to train an AI?

No — absolutely not. Your photos are never used to train any AI model. When you upload a photo, it is securely sent to the AI for real-time analysis only. Once your critique is generated, the AI provider does not retain your image. Your work remains yours.

How does the AI critique work?

Our AI analyses your photograph across multiple dimensions — composition, lighting, color, storytelling, and technical execution. It provides a detailed breakdown with specific, actionable feedback tailored to your skill level and chosen focus area. Think of it as having a knowledgeable mentor available around the clock.

Is the feedback actually useful, or is it generic?

Every critique is generated specifically for your image. The AI considers your stated skill level, preferred genre, and focus area to deliver feedback that is relevant and constructive. It highlights what you are doing well and where you can improve — no cookie-cutter responses.

What file formats are supported?

We support JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC formats. iPhone users can upload photos directly without converting them first. Images are scaled to a maximum of 2000px on the longest edge and saved in WebP format. EXIF metadata (camera settings like aperture, shutter speed, ISO) is extracted from your original file before compression and displayed with your critique. Your complete image is always preserved — no cropping is applied.

How many critiques do I get?

REVIEWR is completely free. Every account starts with 10 welcome critiques and refreshes with 5 new critiques every day at midnight UTC — no payment method required. Quests and community challenges are also free to enter and can earn you extra credits. We use a daily limit to keep the service sustainable, but for nearly every photographer it is more than enough.

What happens to my photos after I upload them?

Your photos are stored securely in your private account. They are only visible to you unless you choose to share them to the public Gallery. You can delete your photos and critiques at any time from your history.

Can I share my critiques publicly?

Yes! After receiving a critique, you can share it to the community Gallery with a single click. You control whether the score is visible and can add a caption. Other photographers can like and comment on your posts.

What is the XP and levelling system?

Every critique you receive earns you XP (experience points). As you accumulate XP, you level up and unlock achievements and badges. Completing quests and participating in challenges earns bonus XP. It is a way to track your growth as a photographer over time.

Will REVIEWR stay free?

Our goal is to keep the core experience free for as long as possible. We monitor usage closely and may, in the future, introduce optional ways to support REVIEWR — such as donations or a small membership for power users. We will always be transparent about any changes, and we will never ask for a payment method just to use the basics.
