Hazy Moon
Capturing the moon with a smartphone is a fun challenge, and you've managed to get some nice surface details here despite the tricky lighting conditions!
What's working
- ✓Successfully captured visible details (maria) on the lunar surface
- ✓The atmospheric haze creates an interesting, glowing halo
Room to grow
- Heavy digital noise and softness limit the overall qualityhigh
- The sky has an unnatural greenish color castmedium
Category Scores
✓ The subject is clearly isolated against the background
→ The central placement with vast empty space feels a bit accidental
✓ Exposure is controlled enough to retain some lunar surface detail rather than just a white circle
→ The bright halo washes out the immediate surrounding sky
✓ The moon itself remains relatively neutral in color
→ A noticeable green color cast affects the surrounding sky and haze
✓ The glowing haze gives the image a quiet, slightly mysterious feel
→ The heavy digital noise distracts from the overall atmosphere
✓ Shutter speed was fast enough to avoid motion blur from the moon's movement
→ Heavy digital noise and lack of sharpness, likely from heavy cropping or digital zoom
✓ Capturing the atmospheric haze adds a touch of mood
→ It is a very conventional, straight-on shot of the moon
Your Action Plan
TOP ACTIONS
- 1Apply noise reduction in an editing app to smooth out the sky
- 2Adjust the tint/white balance to remove the green cast

He is known for incredibly detailed astrophotography. While he uses complex gear, looking at how he frames the moon and handles the transition from bright subject to dark sky can inspire your own editing.
